David Ortiz...NSMH-SDSU Chapter Pre-College Outreach Chair '13-'14
My name is David Ortiz and I am a graduating senior this year at San Diego State University with a degree in Meetings and Events. Originally from Oxnard, California, I moved to San Diego three years ago when I discovered my true passion for Hospitality. As well as being a full time student, I also work full time at the W San Diego so I have plenty of real-life stories and experiences to share with everyone. I can"t wait to meet each and every one of you and hear your story! We have lots of really fun and interesting things planned for this year,so don't miss out on your chance to take part in our great program!
Mr. Wood...Mount Miguel High School Hospitality Academy Director
Jeff Wood has been the Hospitality Academy Director at Mount Miguel High School for over a decade. He introduces his students to the world of hospitality throughout their entire high school journey. He is actively involved in the hospitality industry, has an amazing relationship with the NSMH SDSU Chapter, and is always optimistic and energetic each and every time we visit his students. Mr. Wood and I worked together in providing the students with the various activities they were able to experience this semester. We worked in developing each meeting's agenda, communicating with the HR Director at Sea World, and kept in constant communication in order to provided a successful program. My relationship with Mr. Wood has been developing since 2011 - I admire his devotion, hard work, and enthusiasm. We worked very well together, shared the same inspiration, and managed to successfully put on the mentoring program!
Mrs. Skalicky...Hilltop High School Hospitality Academy Director
The Hilltop High School Mentoring program is fairly new and continues to develop. With Mrs. Skalicky's help we are trying to solidify a mentoring program the students can benefit from. With that said, Pamela Skalicky is the Hospitality Academy Director at Hilltop High School - she has such a caring and giving personality which makes this entire experience for everyone a complete joy. Mrs. Skalicky's tasks are to organize all materials necessary for the high school students, as well work in partnership with me. We are currently in the planning stages for the Spring 2013 mentoring program and it is my first time working with Mrs. Skalicky as a liaison. As one of her mentors last year, I am sure we will be able to create something fun, personable, and memorable for the students to benefit from.
